The MNAFP Education Committee is dedicated to creating and developing collaborative partnerships with public and private colleges and universities. With this in mind, MNAFP has partnered with a number of Minnesota regional colleges and universities to provide opportunities to current and future members, and to students looking to establish or further a career in treasury management or finance. MNAFP currently partners with the University of Minnesota, University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University in providing scholarships to support undergraduate students seeking a career in the treasury management or finance professions.

The current annual funding level per partnering college or university is $3,000. Funding of scholarships and funding levels are both subject to annual review by the MNAFP board. The length of scholarship agreements varies by partner and can be renewed or extended upon mutual agreement.

MNAFP Criteria for Candidates/Recipients:

MNAFP has established the following four criteria for scholarship candidates/recipients:

  • Each candidate must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in finance, accounting, economics, or business management, and have strong interest in a treasury management or corporate finance career.
  • Each candidate must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Recipient must provide a one-page biography to MNAFP, including field of study, work experience, hobbies, career plans, etc. Details from a recipient’s biography may be used by MNAFP for publication in advertising or other materials and on the MNAFP web site. Recipients unconditionally consent to the use of the information provided in their biographies by MNAFP for these purposes.
  • Recipient must agree to attend one monthly MNAFP luncheon and/or participate in the MNAFP annual conference.
Application/Selection Process

Each partnering college or university is responsible for its selection process, including establishment of internal criteria, administration of the application process and awarding of scholarship. The college or university can decide to award the scholarship amount to one student or divide the amount between two or more students. The college or university must also provide its timeline for the selection process to MNAFP, including deadline/instructions for receiving scholarship funding.
