The fast paced world of Payments

When it comes to Payments it’s all about Faster! Whether it’s Same-Day ACH, now in phase four, RTP from the Clearing House, or the Fed talking about Real-time Gross Settlement (RTGS) the space is changing almost daily. Come hear about what’s happening when it comes to “faster” along with the latest changes in the ACH and image worlds. The boring world of payments is anything but boring!!



Our speakers are Fred Laing, President & CEO and Angi Farren, Executive Vice President & COO of UMACHA, the Upper Midwest ACH Association. 

Participants can earn 1.0 CTP/CCM/FP&A credit or 1.0 CPE credit.

• Attendees will learn potential uses for these new payments in their financial areas



Fred Laing ~  Mr. Fred Laing, II is the President & CEO of the Upper Midwest Automated Clearing House Association, or UMACHA.  He’s been at UMACHA over 33 years, having been involved in the significant growth of the network at both the regional and national level. 


He has served four terms on the NACHA Board of Directors and is the past-Chairman of the NACHA Internet Council.  He is on the steering committee of the Risk, Regulation, and Security Group within the NACHA Payments Innovation Alliance, and has served two terms on the Risk Management Advisory Group at NACHA (RMAG). He’s currently a member of the NACHA Government Relations Group.   He’s also a member of the Editorial Board for the NCP (National Check Professional) Program through ECCHO.  He’s a member of the American Society of Association Executives, and is an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) a Certified Cash Manager (CCM) and a National Check Professional (NCP).


Angi Farren ~ Angi is currently the Executive Vice President and COO at the Upper Midwest ACH Association (UMACHA). She is a seasoned Electronic Payments Professional who has over 26 years of experience working at a Regional Payments Association (RPA) and in the banking industry.

A lot of her experience primarily focuses on the Automated Clearing House (ACH) operations, product development, and risk management. Angi received her Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) designation in 2000 and recently received her Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP) designation in 2018.
Angi currently chairs the RPA Forum’s Marketing and Communications Committee and is an active participant on other NACHA, UMACHA and Federal Reserve committees.

Advanced Preparation - A handout will be sent to all registered participants to read before the session.

All cancellations must be received in writing prior to noon two days before any monthly seminar/meeting.  We encourage substitutions at any time, let us know in writing via email or the person can just check with us at the event.  All no shows will be invoiced if not already paid.  Cancellations received more than 48 hours prior to the seminar receive a 100% refund.  Cancellations not received 48 hours prior to the meeting date will not be honored.  Requests for refunds must be received via email.  For more information regarding refund, complaint and/or program cancellation policies, please contact our office at 612-910-9286.

Registration Pricing:

  • Member Pricing $35.00 per person through Tuesday, January 8, 2019, after Monday pricing is $45 per member.
  • Non-Member Pricing $49.00 per person through Tuesday, January 9, 2019, after Monday pricing is $59.00 per non-member.
