BITCOIN, BLOCKCHAIN AND THE FUTURE OF FINANCE

 

Bitcoin and blockchain, the technology protocol that enables the transfer of bitcoins, generated a great deal of interest in 2017. But what are the implications for the financial services industry and how does this apply to you? Chris Swanson, Product Innovation Director and Senior Vice President in U.S. Bank’s Research and Development team, will provide an overview of Bitcoin, blockchain technology and what the banks are doing to prepare for the future.

This intermediate level program will meet the following learning objectives:

  • Attendees will gain and understanding of cryptocurrency, specifically Bitcoin
  • Attendees will also learn how the underlying technology can be applied to traditional financial services in respect to treasury and finance professionals.

Speaker Bio:  Chris Swanson,  Senior Vice President/U.S. Bank
Chris Swanson leads the bank’s blockchain/distributed ledger practice, exploring how the technology can be applied across bank functions. He is a graduate of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota with an MBA in Finance and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Hamline University.

Participants can earn 1.0 CTP/CCM/FP&A credit or 1.0 CPE credit.

Advanced Preparation - A handout will be sent to all registered participants to read before the session.

All cancellations must be received in writing prior to noon two days before any monthly seminar/meeting.  We encourage substitutions at any time, let us know in writing via email or the person can just check with us at the event.  All no shows will be invoiced if not already paid.  Cancellations received more than 48 hours prior to the seminar receive a 100% refund.  Cancellations not received 48 hours prior to the meeting date will not be honored.  Requests for refunds must be received via email.  For more information regarding refund, complaint and/or program cancellation policies, please contact our office at 763-577-0018.


LUNCH:  Buffet - Grilled chicken breast, beef tips with mushroom sauce, fresh vegetables, roasted Yukon gold potatoes, includes Jax house salad, bread and butter service, coffee or tea. Dessert: Assorted bars and cookies.

  • Member Pricing $35.00 per person through Tuesday, March 6, 2018, after Tuesday pricing is $45 per member.
  • Non-Member Pricing $49.00 per person through Tuesday, March 6, 2018, after Tuesday pricing is $59.00 per non-member.
