President's Message

March 2020

Greeting MNAFP,

Our Disrupters theme has certainly been appropriate this year! From continued fed rate reductions, plunging stock market, and Covid 19 pandemic, to our first MNAFP Luncheon without a speaker.

The guest speaker for the meeting was unable to attend due to a Bank of America companywide travel ban. We apologize for the last-minute cancellation and will do our best to provide an alternative opportunity for credits.

With so many company travel bans in place, our Annual Conference just 6 weeks away, and not knowing whether the “pandemic” will subside or continue to be a threat, the MNAFP Conference Co-Chairs, along with the Board, have decided that it is in the best interest of our members, exhibitors,, and sponsors NOT to host an in-person conference this year. We considered trying to postpone the live conference, but there are just too many variables. Instead, we will reinvent our 2020 conference by hosting a virtual conference. Our plan is to offer a variety of sessions and topics over the course of a few weeks. This format will provide an opportunity for education and credits with flexibility in a virus free environment. Additional details and registration information will be available soon.

For those of you who have already registered, Kate will be reaching out to refund your registration fee or provide a credit toward our virtual conference or future MNAFP opportunities.

Although the conference format is changing this year, we will still be holding Board Elections and awarding a Bob Foster Scholarship. Please consider running for a Board Position or nominating someone for the Bob Foster Scholarship. Feel free to reach out to a current Board Member, Kate Cole, or our website for additional details. Feel free to reach out to a current Board Member, Kate Cole, or our website for additional details. You can find the Bob Foster Scholarship application here. The MNAFP Board Nomination form is here.

Please return the Bob Foster Scholarship and the MNAFP Board Nomination form to Kate by April 3rd.

The MNAFP is dedicated to providing a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and best practices for Finance Professionals, even if we have to re-invent ourselves to do it.  I appreciate the Board and all of our Committee members’ dedication to this mission and would like to thank them, and all of our members, for their continued support of our organization.

Stay tuned for the rest of the story….
