President's Message

September 2020

Greetings MNAFP,

As we say goodbye to summer, without the MN State Fair, and look forward to the uncertainties of, well, quite frankly...EVERYTHING, your MNAFP Board is working hard to keep our monthly meetings on track. As I mentioned in my last President’s letter, we will keep our normal meeting schedule for this year with our first “virtual” meeting scheduled for September 10th, from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The meeting “Treasury Tools to Manage Global Risk in a Volatile Financial Market” will feature Matthew Scharpf, VP of Fixed Income Sales for Eurex, and Todd Horsager with Compass. Mr. Scharpf works in the Exchange-Traded Derivatives and Funding & Financing space. His presentation will help us understand the EU Repo Market conditions and demonstrate ways to manage cashflows with these European Products.

The 2020-2021 schedule, including our annual conference date, is posted on our website. The first few meetings will be virtual, but we may also throw in a couple in-person networking events for those of you that are tired of working from home, or just want to see everyone again.  I believe Kate will be sending out a very brief survey to get an idea of everyone’s interest level. Please take a couple minutes to respond. We hope to return to “normal” in-person meetings as soon as possible.

If you have not already done so, please remember to renew your annual MNAFP Membership. You should have received a reminder email, but you can also find renewal information by logging into your MNAFP account. We appreciate everyone’s continued support of our organization. We would not be able to continue our mission of “Providing a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and best practices for Finance Professionals” without your support and continued membership. We look forward to the 2020-2021 year with confidence that we will be able to return to normal at some point, hopefully sooner than later, and we appreciate your continued participation, support, and flexibility!
