President's Message

October 2020

Greetings MNAFP!

The fall colors seem brighter than normal this year, or maybe I’m just learning to have a greater appreciation for their stunning beauty amidst the craziness of 2020.

Either way, the colors help to dull the disappointment of shorter days and impending cold that will be followed by snow and ice. For those of you, like me, still working from home, at least we will be able to avoid the snow storm commutes this winter, so that’s something to look forward to, or as Pollyanna would say, “we can be glad for that.”

Finding the silver lining each day has been especially important this year. Very little has been “normal,” but hopefully, we have all grown because of it. The changes brought by COVID19 have challenged us to approach life, and business, in new and innovative ways. Change is not always fun, but it’s our attitude that contributes to our success or failure throughout the process. Our organization continues to thrive because of our strong, supportive membership base, and I would like to thank all of you for that!

Along with the brilliant fall colors, October brings our second ”virtual” luncheon for the 2020-2021 MNAFP year, Under the Grip of COVID19: How the Fed is Fighting the Pandemic, presented by Demitri Delis, Managing Director in the Piper Sandler Strategic Analytics Group. Mr. Delis will talk to us about the depth of the economic damage and the Fed’s new approach of inflation targeting. Will it make a difference? Also, will it impact the fixed income and equity markets going forward? Please join the conversation on October 8th. Registration is available on our website.

Also, if you have not renewed your annual MNAFP Membership, please go to our website or reach out to Kate Cole. Our organization exists because of, and for, each of our members. We appreciate all of you!!

Enjoy the fall season!

Shaundra Lex
