President's Message

November 19, 2015

Thank you to the 90+ registered people who attended the November meeting!  I am sorry that I was not able to attend the meeting and hear Bill Thompson from Wells Fargo Securities LLC update on short term investments and his marketplace update. The majority of our meetings have close to 100 people in attendance - which makes a great networking opportunity to share best practices and tips! Take advantage of the networking and make sure to introduce yourself to everyone at your table.

I am really looking forward to our upcoming meeting on December 8th!  If you have not already registered you can do so here.  Our December meeting each year is extra special. This year, attendees will hear from an accomplished panel of CFOs', dine on prime rib and earn 1.3 CTP/CCM/FP&A recertification credits (all for only $35 with early registration for members!).  At the end of the meeting, there will be a holiday raffle for a chance to win gift cards, gift baskets and other fun items! You can contact Minnesota AFP here about submitting your gifts.

Along the lines of giving back to the community - our charity partner at our December 8th meeting is Small Sums, an organization that helps homeless people returning to work obtain the items needed to start the job. Your donation of any amount can help Small Sums continue to work toward eradicating homelessness in Minnesota. For more information on how you can make a difference, please look at their website here.

Please don't forget to check out our 2016 Conference Information Page here.  Help other Minnesota AFP members learn best practices and the latest developments affecting our industries from their own peer group by sharing your knowledge. Be one of our riveting speakers!  You can check out exhibiting or sponsoring opportunities on this page too.

If you are looking to hire or make a job change in 2016, please consider posting a position or looking at the postings. The career center is focused on the finance marketplace and is a great resource to find qualified candidates or find a new job.
