President's Message

August 21, 2014

First and foremost, I would like to thank all of our past board and committee members for their hard work and contributions in 2013/2014. I am thrilled to be serving as the President of the Minnesota Association of Finance Professionals (MNAFP). I am excited about the opportunity to continue to work with engaging and passionate board and committee members that continue to make a difference for our members.

We had a strategic planning session to assess where we’ve been and where we’re going with MNAFP. In this session, we reviewed membership demographics, education content, partnerships, technology, etc. I am so excited to share with each of you the new vision and mission for the MNAFP.

Vision – Leader in advancing the Finance Professionals in Minnesota

Mission – Provide a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and best practices for Finance Professionals

We feel the vision and mission aligns us for the future growth and needs of our members. We will keep you apprised of initiatives as we continue to develop a roadmap supporting MNAFP’s vision and mission.

We are thrilled for this upcoming season 2014/15 with an amazing line-up of speakers!  Mark your calendars!

Based on your feedback and aligned with our mission, we are pleased to announce another Treasurer panel on September 11, 2014 with a session titled Tales From the Top to focus on hot treasury topics!

Steve Overholser, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Great Clips, Inc. and Sean Bagan, Treasurer of Polaris will be sharing their perspectives on investing/debt, risk management, cash forecasting, cash management, industry specific topics, and leadership. The session will be moderated by our Vice President, Benita Bjorgo, Manager of Treasury Operations/Risk Management from Capella University.

For October’s session on October 16, 2014, we have the Mayor, Chris Coleman and Treasurer and Finance Director, Todd Hurley , discussing the “Economic Challenges of the New Saints Stadium.”

We look forward to seeing you at the meetings!

Best Regards,

May Vang

President of MNAFP
