President's Message

August 31, 2017

Please join us for our next luncheon meeting on September 14, 2017 at Jax Cafe.  The meeting/session is titled:  How eCommerce and Digital are Impacting the Evolution of Brick and Mortar.  Teresa Walker, Executive Director, J.P. Morgan Merchant Services will discuss the impact eCommerce has on B2B companies who are seeing this evolution as an opportunity to speed up payments and expand sales. In today’s retail climate, its’ well know that competition from rising eCommerce players is forcing brick and mortar stores to operate under a new normal. During this session we will offer best practices for your business and payments model including visualizing yourself as a smaller store with a focused product offering, optimizing your geographic footprint, and considering distribution centers and better customer experience – like loyalty programs, in-aisle checkout, and more – to compete in the evolving retail environment.  Click here for more information!

MNAFP, a leader in advancing the Finance Professionals in Minnesota is ready to begin a new year. The Board of Directors recently met making plans for the coming year. We left the meeting energized and have great ideas to make this year the best ever. Along with monthly lunch meetings we are planning networking opportunities throughout the year. It is our mission to provide a forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and best practices for Finance Professionals. We want to hear from you! Let us know how things are going and what topics are of interest to you and we will do our best to make each meeting relevant and important to you.

Recent changes to note:

  • May Vang, Vice President of MNAFP, has resigned from the organization due to a new job opportunity that required a relocation outside of Minnesota. May has been a passionate board member of MNAFP and will be missed. We wish her the best in her future endeavors.

  • Rachel Steimer, former Secretary of MNAFP, has agreed to come back and serve one more year as Secretary. Welcome back Rachel and thank you for your service.

The talent on the Board will make this year shine! Thank you Chris Fodor, Sue Kubis, Jessica Hendrickson, James Nelson and Rachel Steimer for your continued commitment to MNAFP.
